Projected volleyball finishes

Monterey Bay League
Gabilan Division
1. Notre Dame: Emily Cunanan or Nikki DeSerpa. You can't stop both.
2. Salinas: Never underestimate a team that has never lost a Gabilan Division match.
3. San Benito: Marisa Villegas put up solid numbers all around in non-league play.
4. Christopher: Has some size up front with athletes that can jump and block.
5. Monte Vista: Could be a sleeper this fall for a postseason spot.
6. Alvarez: The reward for a share of the Pacific Division title was a jump to the Gabilan.
7. Seaside: Keep an eye on 6-foot-2 junior Mekeya Thomas.

Pacific Division
1. Monterey: Sasha Krnic is going to put up some big numbers in the Pacific Division.
2. Alisal: A program that will develop and improve as the season progresses.
3. North Salinas: Lost three non-league matches in the final set.
4. North County: Look for this program to take a step forward for the third straight year.
5. Watsonville: Returning setter Karina Frias is a good starting point for the Wildcatz.
6. Gilroy: Could be a darkhorse in a very competitive league.
7. Pajaro Valley: Four years removed for a league title.

Mission Trail Athletic League
1. Carmel: Returns its top hitter, setter and defender. Enough said.
2. King City: A balanced attack at the net with a dynamic defender in libero Brianna Ortiz.
3. Santa Catalina: This could be a dangerous team in the second half of league play.
4. Gonzales: Would be a title contender if it were in the Pacific Division.
5. Soledad: Might be the most improved program this fall in the MTAL.
6. Anzar: Has proven in the past to be competitive in the MTAL.
7. Pacific Grove: Looking to turn athletes into volleyball players.
8. Stevenson: Has already surpassed last year's entire win total.
