Or should we be surprised?
Granted, graduation gutted the Vikings playoff team from last fall. Yet, new coach Darren Spence inherited an undefeated junior varsity team to fill up roster spots.
And the cupboard wasn't completely bare.
Don't get me wrong.
North Salinas has a difficult task in returning to the MBL's Gabilan Division this year with such a young group.
But it's a talented group behind junior quarterback Joseph Gutierrez, that's grown accustomed to making plays in big moments.
