One of the best kept secrets in the county has been the Vikings field hockey team.
Perennial powers of the county, North Salinas has gone outside its confines in the preseason to make a statement, having opened the year by blanking Willow Glen, Monta Vista and Leland.
Now comes the measuring stick as North Salinas will visit CCS power and former league rival Gilroy on Thursday.
The Vikings have outscored the opposition 10-0 this fall behind Jocelyn Guerrero, Elizabeth Alcala and Alyssa Labrador, all of which have three goals on the young season.
Guerrero also has three assists this fall while goalie Sofia Cuentas has been sensational between the pipes in goal with 15 saves
