Two teams nicknamed the Mustangs have spilt their last two meetings with King City prevailing 21-13 last fall.
King City is looking to build off of last year's momentum after closing the season with a 5-1 record. It is also looking to snap a four-game season opening losing streak.
The core is back for King City, including quarterback Chase Barbree, who threw for nearly 1,300 yards last fall. Dominic Rose (6-feet-4) is an imposing target on the outside.
Monte Vista is back in the Pacific Division this year after winning just one game in the Gabilan. The year before, it set a school record for wins with 10.
