Back for San Lorenzo Valley is quarterback Isaac Newberry, who threw for nearly 1,300 yards last fall, including 275 yards and three touchdowns against Marina.
The Mariners, who ended a 27-game losing streak last year with a school record four wins in their fourth year of football, will be better on defense.
