 You don't score 592 points in a season or 77 points in one game by accident.
 Last fall was special for the Breakers, who fell in the Central Coast Section Division IV title game to state runner-up Sacred Heart Prep of Atherton.
 "I think the kids realize the hard work that is needed to get to this level,'' Pacific Grove coach Chris Morgan said. "We've established what's expected around here.''
 With MTAL MVP Jake Speed and record setting quarterback Luke Lowell gone, the offense now revolves around tailback Jason Leach.
  "I've set my goals high,'' Leach sad. "I want to get at least 2,000 yards."
 The senior quietly chalked up nearly 1,700 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns last season. Of course, what made Leach so effective was a potent passing game.
 I don't see the Breakers being as explosive through the air this fall, at least not in the beginning as it takes time to build chemistry.
 "I think over the summer we talked about carrying the momentum over,'' Leach said. "But we didn't want to put to much pressure on the young guys.''
 Pacific Grove's defense gave up 40 or more points in four of its final five games. Part of that had to do with the offense scoring so fast.
 To contend for supremacy in the MTAL and make it three straight playoff appearances, the defense has to be better this fall.
