Hartnell-Redwoods football

Saturday's game
Hartnell (1-0) at Redwoods (0-1), 1 p.m.
Hartnell produced the third highest point total in the state last week (53) behind an offensive line of Branden Pena, David Simi Maposua, Kameron Brown, Kendrick Brown and Jonathan Servin.
Quarterback Michael Turner benefited from the protection, tossing three touchdown passes. Dating back to last year, the Seaside High grad has one interception in 118 attempts.
Redwoods found itself down 24-3 to MPC before the offense awoke. Part of that could have been the eight-plus hour drive to Monterey. Which is why Hartnell is driving north a day early.
Two quarterbacks for Redwoods did throw for 383 yards in the loss. Erren Jean-Pierre caught 14 passes for Redwoods.
But Redwoods running game managed just 33 yards. Despite the blowout last week, the Panthers were minus one in turnover ratio.
