Football Tour VI

Greenfield (1-9, 1-6)
Blowing a 27-point first half lead to open the season was a sign of things to come. The Bruins never recovered last fall.
Greenfield actually lead at some point in five of its nine losses last year. Depth, however, caught up with them, particularly in the second half.
Mentally the Bruins -- with eight players going both ways last fall -- were whipped out.
The likelihood is multiple players will see double duty again this season.
"We need to talk more on offense and communicate more with each other on defense,'' Greenfield flyback Jorge Rojas said. "It's mental more than physical.''
Three years removed from a nine-win season, the Bruins didn't have a 1,000 yard rusher last fall for the first time in eight years.
Could Rojas, who caught three touchdown passes last year as a receiver, be the answer?
"I like the thought of getting more touches,'' Rojas said.
Rediscovering the running game is essential for a program that has never aired it out. It also chews up the clock and enables a defense more rest.
The Bruins are young. Only 10 players are back from last season. But there are some parts to work with. There is size in the trenches.  The numbers at the lower levels is encouraging. The future has some promise.
