With a season behind center under his belt as Salinas' quarterback, McDermott has a grasp for the offense and a rifle for an arm.
Last fall the senior became the first quarterback to throw for over 1,000 yards at Salinas since 2008, finishing with 1,153 yards and nine touchdowns. He also rushed for just under 300 yards.
