The former Palma High and Hartnell College point guard has been named to St. Mary’s all-time men’s top 25 basketball team over the last 100 years.
Rowland, who spent two seasons as the Gaels floor leader, helped the team set a single-season school scoring record with 2,377 points during his junior year. In his senior year in 2005, he ignited the team to a school record 25 wins and a trip to the NCAA Tournament -- the fourth in team history.
The 6-foot-3 playmaker led the Gaels in steals in both years, and is still No. 8 all time with 101. His single season total of 54 is No. 4 all-time.
Rowland, who is playing professional in Germany, averaged 12.1 points and 4.1 assists in two seasons at St. Mary’s, leading the team in scoring his junior year.
Rowland will be playing Sunday in the St. Mary's All-Star Classic.
