Santa Catalina-Carmel softball

 For all the accolades and titles that Santa Catalina has posted over the last five years, this has been the most rewarding spring for head coach Jim Pingree.
 This was the season the Cougars were supposed to come back to the pack.
 And to a degree, that happened, especially when two players suffered concussions on the same play and missed a week.
 But since their return, Santa Catalina has looked a lot like its old self, having won 10 straight games, ensuring no worse than a share of its fourth straight MTAL title entering today's battle at Carmel.
  Fresno State-bound Chase LeeHong and senior co-captain Rene Kausin have driven in a combined 51 runs this spring for Santa Catalina.
 Having fallen to the Cougars 12-5 in the first meeting on April 10, Carmel remains in the playoff chase. Ashlynn Davis hit for the cycle in the team's last game.
