You are going to endure growing pains when nine players on your roster are either freshmen or sophomores -- and six of them are starting.
Yet, the big picture is a positive one for Seaside.
And once again the Spartans are challenging teams with aggressive base running.
Four players have 10 or more steals this spring, including freshman Marcus Dorn, who has 20 steals in the teams first 14 games. Teammate CJ Oliveras has 19.
What the Spartans are in search of is consistency on defense. Seven times they have given up 10 or more runs in a game this year -- with 40 errors committed in those games.
Again, chalk some of that up to youth. Patience is a virtue. There are glimpses of the potential. This team will grow together.
