Saturday thoughts

Blistering the track: Freshman Mikayla Revera of Santa Catalina won the 400 at Top 8 in a career best 56.50, and captured the 200 in 25.56.
Power in the circle: Mario Gonzalez set personal bests at Top 8 in the shot (52-8) and discus (167-1) for North Salinas.
 Gliding through barriers: Palma's Devin Hinson ran nearly a second faster than his career best in clocking 38.92 in the 300 intermediate hurdles.
Distance diamond: James Welsh sizzled the track in a season best 4:19.00 in winning the 1,600 for Monterey at Top 8.
California soaring: Chase Pacheco effortlessly won the Top 8 long jump for Palma in 21-9 1/2, and was second in the high jump at 6-4.
