When is the last time these two programs battled for supremacy in baseball?
In one word. Never.
It's been uncharted waters all season for both the Eagles and North Salinas in their battle for the Pacific Division title with Watsonville.
Yet, neither team seems bothered by the sudden expectations.
While North Salinas has struggled outside the Pacific Division (0-7), it's 9-1 in league, including a 6-2 decision over Alvarez (9-2) on March 19.
The Eagles have rattled off seven straight wins since falling to Watsonville (10-2) on March 27. In fact, they are undefeated in the month of April.
Behind an abundance of sizzling bats, Alvarez is 8-0 when scoring eight or more runs this year, 4-4 when it doesn't.
Pitching has carried the Vikings this year as five of their nine league wins have been shutouts posted by either Joseph Gutierrez or Isaac Garcia.
