Soledad boys soccer dilemma

Here are some of the reasons given to me by CCS commissioner Nancy Lazenby-Blaser on why No. 2 seed Soledad is traveling to face No. 3 Burlingame in the Division III semifinals on Wednesday.
Sites are predetermined before the CCS playoffs start. Burlingame was a predetermined site.
Having a higher seed does not give you special privileges in the postseason after the first round.
Rabobank Stadium in Salinas was an option if two southern section teams made the semifinals. Soledad is the only Monterey County team left in the soccer playoffs.
All other predetermined sites -- including Aptos High -- have two games going on.
As for the 7 p.m. start rather than 4:30 p.m., the CCS didn't want Soledad missing to much school.
While I understand some of the reasons, I would have liked to have seen a more neutral site at least discussed on Sunday, even if it wasn't a predetermined site -- like Gilroy or Live Oak. I can't imagine either school would have said no.

It's not fair. That is the bottom line. Excuses are just that.
And enough already with Menlo school being a predetermined site for D4 Hoops!!
