1. Monterey: The Toreadores are going to score a lot of runs this year, which means their appearance in the Pacific Division could be brief. Has Monterey found a pitcher to shut teams down?
2. Monte Vista: A strong preseason has created expectations in the Pacific Division. Three of Monte Vista's top five hitters from last year have returned along with pitcher Whitney Cisneros.
3. North County: Janell Godfrey is back after missing all of last season with an injury. In 2012, she was among the team leaders in every offensive category as a sophomore.
4. Watsonville: Four starters are back on a team that finished last season winning four of its last five games. Sophomore Samantha Sakai steps into the circle full time.
5. Alvarez: Having improved in the win column in each of the last three years, the Eagles are chasing their first winning season since 2006.
6. Alisal: The Trojans have already done something they did not do last season and that's win a game. They also snapped a seven game scoreless streak, erupting for 11 runs in a win.
7. Pajaro Valley: Having scored just six runs all of last year, the Grizzlies produced 13 in one non-league game this spring. Pajaro is looking to snap a 35 game league losing streak.
