Friday's game
Pacific Grove (8-0) at King City (5-3), 7:30 p.m.
All of a sudden this game has some meaning.
Meaning Pacific Grove can't be looking ahead to next week's anticipated showdown with Carmel.
It's simple for King City. If it wins its final two games, it's going to the postseason.
But this is no simple task for the Mustangs.
Pacific Grove is undefeated for a reason. It has the second highest scoring offense in the county and has given up the least amount of points (106). It has outscored opponents 142-3 in the first quarter.
Jake Speed might be the best player in the MTAL, having accounted for 19 touchdowns this fall. Jason Leach is closing in a 1,000 yard rushing season.
And quarterback Luke Lowell has already surpassed career totals for touchdowns (23), with just four picks in 110 attempts.
Wacey Barrington is coming of a 178 yard rushing effort for King City. Establishing the run chews up the clock and keeps the Breakers offense off the field.
The Mustangs two best players, though, are on the outside in receivers Dominic Rose and DeAndre Sharff. Both need touches to make this a game.
During its four-game winning streak, King City is plus 12 in turnover ratio.
