Football rankings

1. Carmel: The Padres are averaging 48 points a game this fall.
2. Palma: Can clinch its second straight Gabilan Division title on Friday, and Open Division playoff spot.
3. Pacific Grove: Must be careful not to look ahead to Carmel in two weeks.
4. Monterey: Playing some of the best football in the county right now.
5. Alvarez: Wrapped up no worse than a share of its first league title in 11 years last week.
6. San Benito: Once again the Balers appear to be peaking in November.
7. Seaside: This is a mystery team that has to forget last week's heartbreaking loss.
8. Salinas: Needs a win in its final game in two weeks to secure a sixth straight playoff spot.
9. North Salinas: A win to close the season puts the Vikings in the postseason.
10. King City: Can make the playoffs if it wins its final two games.
On the bubble: Gilroy, Christopher, Stevenson.
