Alvarez football

Who would have thought back in August that Alvarez would be the only football team in Salinas practicing on Thanksgiving this year?
 None of you.
 Well, except Alvarez.
 This team believed back in August that it could contend for supremacy following an 0-10 season.
 Did anyone really see 11-0?
 I doubt it.
 But there is something special about this humble group. Watch them in practice and it's businesslike. In their minds, they're still trying to improve and prove skeptics wrong.
 Eleven straight wins should get your attention.
 The last time Alvarez won a playoff game, this group of juniors and seniors were four and five years old.
 Another home game on Friday against defending CCS Division I champion San Benito will be electric.
