Monterey-Alisal football

Friday's game
Monterey (5-2) at Alisal (2-5)
You know you've got something special when a team learns from its mistakes.
Since failing to hold a fourth quarter lead against Palma four weeks ago, the Toreadores have rattled off three straight wins, outscoring three playoff teams from last year 120-40.
Monterey is doing it with defense - having forced seven turnovers last week - and offense, averaging 40 points a game. Brandon Finona is one of the best all-around players in the county.
Sophomore quarterback Carter Aldrete has tossed 10 touchdown passes this season, forcing teams to stop putting nine in a box to contain the Toreadores run game.
Alisal is similar in that it will pound the ball on you. The hard luck Trojans have been in every game this year, holding leads in five of its seven games.
Lorenzo Novoa, an all-league linebacker last year, has nearly 600 rushing yards for Alisal.
