Four straight years of improvement in the win column propelled the Breakers -- who have won three straight season openers -- back to the playoffs last year.
Watsonville, who lost over 80 percent of its offense to graduation, was 0-6 last season against teams with a .500 or better overall record.
Both teams struggled at times defensively last fall with both Pacific Grove and the Wildcatz giving up 40 or more points three times.
