 One of the Central Coast Section's top ranked teams, the Lancers opened the season with a 28-0 win over a good Oak Grove squad.
 Most of the offensive firepower came on the ground as the Lancers rushed for 228 yards, 76 coming from Cameron Meszaros, a 5-7, 150 pound tailback.
 Brandon Olivares nearly did that on his own last week in Palma's 20-10 loss to Carmel, rushing for 204 yards on 37 carries.
 What hurt the Chieftains last week was six dropped passes to open receivers. If that doesn't improve, Olivares is going to start seeing nine man fronts.
 Palma is 3-0-1 in its last four regular season meetings with St. Francis.
 The last time the Chieftains dropped a season opener, they bounced back to beat St. Francis 31-14 on the road.
