Friday's game
Alisal (0-1) at Alvarez (1-0), 7:30 p.m.
After scoring just 99 points last year, the Eagles piled up 56 in their season opener, snapping an 11-game losing streak.
Now they will look to halt a nine game losing streak to Alisal, who beat them 44-14 last fall.
Alvarez has a game changer in quarterback Edrick Gamble, while the defense is vastly better from last year, when it gave up 40 or more points eight times.
Coming off a school record eight win season, the Trojans are still adapting to a new coach and a new system. In addition, they are without their best player in tailback Ricky Muniz.
The last time the Eagles beat Alisal in 2003, they gathered a share of the old Monterey Bay League title.
