Is the St. Francis Catholic situation a sign of things to come for the future of football?
The programs dwindling numbers has already cost them one game and potentially the season.
But the small private Watsonville based school isn't the only program where the numbers are low.
Stevenson and Gonzales will both struggle to have rosters above 25 players. Of course, that's not unusual.
But I have spoken to two other coaches of prominent programs, who have confessed that depth is an issue this year.
Are more parents hesitant to let their kids play football?
Depends on who you ask.
At least two other coaches have told me their numbers are up. And one school expects 200 plus players to fill out their three programs.
