Pressed into service last year after San Benito lost its starting quarterback to an injury in the season opener, Stanton responded by throwing or rushing for 17 touchdowns.
Stanton rushed for nearly 500 yards and 13 touchdowns while throwing for just under 1,000 yards for the defending Division I champions. Eight of his 17 touchdowns came in the playoffs.
