The former North Salinas High and Hartnell College lineman has told JoeBucsFan.com that his injured left big toe on his 351 pound frame will never completely go away.
Nicks, an all-pro guard, who signed the largest deal ever for an offensive guard last year for Tampa Bay, does expect to play in at least one preseason game this summer.
Nicks has not played since being put on IR seven games into last season.
The 28-year-old Nicks, who said the injury effects how he walks, did make it clear that he does not want to take painkillers.
