Terra Nova (20-7) vs. Palma (21-6)
Division III
This has been somewhat of a redemption tour for the Chieftains, who exercised the ghosts of the last two years by beating San Benito and Salinas to capture their first league title in nine years.
Palma followed that up by erasing last year's first round playoff loss with a six inning blanking of St. Lawrence, stretching its winning streak to a season high nine.
Not that the Chieftains haven't been tested in the last two weeks, but Terra Nova is 12-1 outside the Peninsula Athletic League's Bay Division, including a playoff opening 8-7 win over Monte Vista.
Palma swept its three games with Monte Vista in the Gabilan Division.
Anthony Payan has provided some punch at the plate for Palma with four homers while Armando Castellanos has been a catalyst at the top of the order.
The Tigers hit .334 as a team and compiled a 2.25 team earned run average. Austin Wahl will put his 8-0 record on the line for Palma.
