Pacific Grove (18-10) vs. Santa Catalina (24-2)
Division III
No team gave the defending CCS Division III champions more fits this spring than Pacific Grove, who suffered 9-8 and 3-1 setbacks to Santa Catalina.
The Breakers are so young that they're oblivious to pressure. Cierra Pieroni was masterful in shutting down Notre Dame-Belmont in the teams playoff opener.
The eight runs Pacific Grove produced on that April 9 loss were one-fifth of the total Santa Catalina gave up all season.
While pitching was suppose to be a concern for the Cougars, freshman Tatumn Satow has stepped in and hit her spots, allowing five runs in her last eight starts.
Santa Catalina has a lot of pop in its lineup. Four players have 30 or more hits this spring, including Satow's team high 42. Tennessee bound Annie Aldrete has 32 career home runs.
