Division III Championship
During the Spirits state record run of nine straight Division III softball titles between 1998-2006, three of those championships came against Half Moon Bay.
In fact, Notre Dame has never lost to the Cougars in the playoffs.
The Spirits have gotten hot at the right time, outscoring three postseason opponents 38-4, including a 15-2, five inning win over defending CCS champion Santa Catalina.
No. 2 seed Half Moon Bay was fourth this spring in the Peninsula Athletic League's Bay Division, a league similar to the Gabilan Division in terms of strength.
Both teams lost just three games outside their respective leagues. Half Moon Bay's run through the playoffs has included wins over Carmel and SCCAL champion Soquel.
The Spirits have won a CCS softball record 12 section titles.
