I would add Cameron Neff to that list
Where the hell is Hildev Manzur?! Lets see...The kid is a three year Varsity Starter on the Palma football team. Jeff Carnazzo quoted that Mazur "is perhaps one of the best lineman Palma has ever had." He has been the defensive anchor three years running and not to mention the defensive lineman of the year in 2012. As for wrestling, Manzur has qualified for the CIF state chamionship two years in a row at super heavy weight going undefeated leading up to the state championship in 2012. Manzur is arguably one of the best all around athletes in Palma History. He is humbled, a true sportsman, and more than worthy of this honor of Athlete of the year. To say the least...Hildev Manzur is a man amongst boys, and there is no question he is far superior than anyone in the 2013 class.
I think Manzur is a great addition. Very good at what he played, but so were the other selections. Neff may be the best baseball player in the area this year and probably drafted, but he only played one sport. Seems many of the top male athletes in the county decided to specialize senior year. Didn't Tardieu play 3 sports over at Palma as well?
Jimmy Hill was MVP of the MBL in football, plus he is a darn good baseball player. Very deserving Dore nomination. And I Wouldn't be suprised in Carter Aldrete wins this some day.
Jessica Davis is a great athlete hands down winner for the girls.
While we on the peninsula seem to get more coverage than the valley, the Alisal soccer team has to be one of the top stories of the last decade. Finshed up top 3 in the nation? Is that a first for any team sport in Monterey County?
Annie Aldrete/Hildev Manzur....enough said, done deal!
