While I agree with coach Jim Pingree that the MTAL has gotten stronger, the Cougars are in a class by themselves after Tuesday's 19-1 win over previously unbeaten Carmel.
This won't happen. But Santa Catalina would be just fine in the Gabilan Division for at least the next three years.
Just two seniors are on the roster. Three freshmen are making a big impact, including Tatumn Satow at the plate and on the mound. Two sophomores are seeing extensive time.
The Cougars have outscored their last three MTAL opponents 50-4 since Pingree held a team meeting. Two of those teams went to the playoffs last year.
How many teams can replace a record setting pitcher that's now throwing darts at UC Santa Barbara, and open the season 18-2.
