Tonight's Top 8 track and field meet may have taken away some of the elite athletes from the central coast for Saturday's Bill Kearney Invitational at Salinas.
But the lineup is still impressive, featuring teams from as far north as Redding to the Fresno and Arroyo Grande area.
In addition, a pair of state leaders are slated to compete in Anna Maxwell of San Lorenzo Valley in the girls 1,600 (4:45.35) and San Luis Obispo's Connor Hall in the pole vault (16-2).
Arroyo Grande's Elijah Holt has crept into the top five in the state in the 110 high hurdles (14.38) and Cody Johnson of SLV is ranked eighth in the state in the 800 (1:53.65).
Monterey's John Irving is the meet favorite in the shot put (49-5 1/2), as is teammate James Welsh in the 1,600 (4:26.36).
Salinas' William Jaksha has the top time entered in the 300 intermediate hurdles (41.25), as does teammate Avery Lopez in the 400 (51.32).
Defending CCS 300 low hurdles champion Jessica Davis of King City is entered in both the Top 8 and Kearney meets.
