Monterey boys hoops

The Toreadores are playing with house money after ending a seven-game losing streak in the CCS Division III playoffs on Thursday.
 The pressure is off.
Now Monterey doesn't have that dark cloud hanging over its heads heading into today's battle with No. 2 seed Burlingame at noon at St. Ignatius in San Francisco.
Last year Burlingame (18-8) ended the Toreadores season with a 62-51 win at St. Ignatius.
But Burlingame's big scoring guard transferred this year to Riordan.
Monterey grew up on Thursday, learning that it can win when the game is on the line and opponents are attempting to shut down Chris Russo.
