Could Alisal and Alvarez be headed for a rematch?
And better yet, could Salinas find one of those Salinas rivals in its path for a CCS Division I title this time next week?
Lets not jump the gun just yet.
But all three teams are still alive on Saturday in the Division I quarterfinals.
Alisal and Alvarez might be playing with chips on their shoulders.
Despite being the higher seeded teams, both will be forced to travel with top seed Alisal hosting Palo Alto at Milpitas High, and No. 4 Alvarez facing No. 5 Mountain View at Gunn High.
I don't get it.
Logic could have put both those games at Alisal, who is the top seed after all.
Salinas' task is a little more difficult as it will visit No. 2 Carlmont at Gunn. Then again, no team is playing better than the Cowboys, who beat host Fremont on penalty kicks on Wednesday.
Salinas is 1-0-3 in its last four games, having played Alisal to a tie as well.

Why promote this idea of disrespect in high school sports. That's not what the CCS or the Schools promote.
Alisal and Alvarez have no reason to have "chips" on their shoulders because they are "traveling". CCS events are often super-sited to assist in game management, to aid scouting, and (occasionally) to assist fans when both girls and boys teams from same school have advanced. Sites are chosen in advance from schools that have VOLUNTEERED to host. Alisal could have volunteered (and maybe they did), but they were not a predetermined site. These are not the only two schools involved and they have not been slighted.
The better story and one worth highlighting is that with the promotion of the MBL-Gabilan to an "A" league, six teams from that league were able to enter the tournament and four remain. When you throw Alvarez into the mix, five of seven teams remain...and then there is Soledad, so make it six of ten area (boys) teams playing in the quarter finals this weekend!
