St. Ignatius-Palma football

CCS Open Division Playoffs
St. Ignatius (7-3) vs. Palma (8-2), Friday, 7 p.m. at the Salinas Sports Complex.
Nine of the 10 teams St. Ignatius played this fall are in the playoffs. Last season's CCS Division III champions are 7-1 in their last eight road games.
The last time these two teams met was in the 2006 season opener when Palma rolled to a 41-21 win in San Francisco.
Palma is 5-1-1 against teams in the West Catholic Athletic League over the last seven years. However, that one loss came at the Salinas Sports Complex in a playoff game against St. Francis.
Elijah Dale is averaging 7.24 yards each time he touches the ball for the Wildcats. Brandon Olivares became the third straight running back to rush for over 1,000 yards for Palma.
The Chieftains are 7-0 with Mitch Kidd behind center. Palma is averaging just under 40 points a game during its seven game winning streak.

SI will be the toughest team Palma has faced this year. Better than St Joes and Seaside (yes bettr than Seaside). SI is senior dominated and very disciplined)...SI lefty QB is a very good passer and can run. SI RB is very good as well, and they have tall WRs. Palma will need to be balanced on offense and defend against both the rush and pass. Should be a battle.
