CCS Division IV playoffs
Soquel (8-2) vs. Carmel (9-1), Friday, 7 p.m. at Pacific Grove
Things have changed since Soquel hammered the Padres 48-20 in Week 2.
For starters, the Padres haven't lost a game since, while Soquel fell to two eventual league champions.
Carmel is averaging 53.2 points a game during its eight game winning streak, having scored 50 or more points in its last three games.
Defensively, the Padres didn't have an answer on Sept. 8 to Soquel's Fabiano Hale, who rushed for 178 yards and four touchdowns.
But he wasn't the only one that ran wild on a youthful Carmel defense that day. Ryan Reyes chalked up 151 yards and two touchdowns.
Containing Hale, though, is critical. The 215 pound punishing running back has 1,840 yards and 32 touchdowns this fall.
Last week Carmel gave up 217 yards rushing to Pacific Grove tailback Kevin Tesky.
