Priory-Santa Catalina volleyball

CCS Division V Semifinals
Woodside Priory (19-8) vs. Santa Catalina (20-4), Wednesday, 7:30 p.m. at St. Francis Catholic.
The Panthers have had some success in battling teams from the tri-league area, having knocked off  Carmel, Monterey, Pacific Collegiate and San Benito in tournaments.
Priroy also plays in the West Bay Foothill Division, which includes Menlo and Sacred Heart Prep, which is where four of their eight losses came.
Junior Marine Hall Poirier has recorded nearly 350 kills this fall for the Panthers while senior middle blocker Briana Willhite has 201 kills.
Much like the Mission Trail Athletic League champion Cougars, Priory is a strong defensive team with Hall Poirier and Michaela Koval each compiling over 200 digs.
Santa Catalina ran through the MTAL this fall with timing and placement at the net, and defense in the back row with three-time all-league libero Lizzy Tardieu.
Five members of this Cougars squad were a part of the 2010 CCS Division V finalist team that fell in five games. Annie Aldrete and Katie Griffith have relied on precise sets from Lucy Scattini.
