Notre Dame volleyball

State Northern California Division V Playoffs
Notre Dame (23-11) at Woodland Christian (22-10), Tuesday, 7 p.m.
The Sac-Joaquin Section Division V champions have won six straight and are 8-1 in their last nine matches, with the one setback coming in a tournament against Santa Cruz.
The Cardinals strength has been defense and serving, having recorded 310 service aces this fall en route to capturing the Central California League.
Notre Dame was actually seeded higher than Woodland Christian at No. 4. But because the Cardinals won their section, they will host the match as a No. 5 seed.
Much like the CCS Division V runner-up Spirits, Woodland Christian does not have a lot of height. Its leader in kills is a 5-4 junior outside hitter.
Sophomore Emily Cunanan has caught fire in the postseason for Notre Dame with 28 kills in her last two matches. Savannah Torres and Blake Burnett provide power at the net.
The Spirits have relied on their defense, namely libero Daisy Valladares to get the ball into the hands of setter Erin DeSerpa.
A win by the Spirits would likely set up a match with top seed and perennial Division V state power Branson (35-2) on Saturday.
