Greenfield cross country

Is there a better cross country story this fall than Greenfield?
Sure CCS Division IV champion Seaside is having a magical boys season, being ranked as high as No. 4 in the state in Division IV.
Salinas made history this fall by winning its first ever Central Coast Section Division I girls title.
And York is going back to another Division V state boys championship as a team.
But all three of those programs have had success in the past. It wasn't completely unexpected.
Greenfield's girls program has had none, zilch in its 14 years -- until this fall.
The Bruins are headed to the State Division IV girls cross country championships on Saturday at Woodward Park in Fresno as a team.
No one saw this coming when the season started. Not even Greenfield expected to be practicing on Thanksgiving.
The potential for more success exists. Its top runner is freshman Jocelyn Sosa, who shattered the school record on the Toro Park course.
No. 2 runner Nancy Rivera is just a sophomore. So is Odalys Barajas and Maritza Trujillo. Alondra Jaime is a junior. The only seniors are Maria Jaime and Abigail Romero.
