Here is a number that gets my attention.
Salinas' roster says 86 players have a uniform. Monterey coach Tom Newton told me 26 players will suit up on Friday for the Toreadores.
Is it a big deal?
Maybe.
On a week-to-week basis against physical teams, a lack of depth can take its tole.
Monterey has had the luxury of pulling starters early most of the year.
But in its battle with Palma, fatigue did set in late in the third quarter as evident by a few two-way starters cramping up.
Remember Monterey held a 12-0 lead before giving up 22 points in the final 17 minutes.
