Two of the oldest programs in the Central Coast Section haven't faced each other in a game of this magnitude since -- well maybe since 1993.
That's when Salinas beat Monterey 17-6 to win the CCS Division II title, only to forfeit it after it was discovered an ineligible player took part for Salinas.
The two teams did face off for the MBL title in 1994 with Salinas sending Monterey to its only loss. The Cowboys went on to win the CCS Division II title.
