Could this be the last Salinas City Meet for track and field?
With realignment next year, combining the TCAL and MBL into one league, but two divisions, there's talk of an extra meet after the league finals to decide who goes on to the CCS trials.
 Meaning the league championship meet for both divisions will likely be held a week earlier -- or the same time as today's Salinas City Meet.
 Add the fact that the five Salinas city schools will likely be split up into the two divisions will make it difficult on scheduling.
 I've always said the City Meet would be a good early season meet. Hold it in March before the big invitationals kick into gear. It's a perfect way to expose your young athletes to a competitive meet.
