Not only did Salinas see its 11-game winning streak snapped 72 hours later by Monterey, but a loss to Notre Dame in a tournament over the weekend served as a reality check.
Title hopes aside, the Cowboys are still battling for an automatic playoff spot with North Salinas, who knocked them off 3-2 on March 29, restoring a rivalry that had faded over the last five years.
 Expect a pitchers dual today at the Sports Complex between Salinas' Justine Armento and North Salinas freshman Katelyn Doyle, who blanked Carmel last Friday.
