Playing at home

Having a higher seed in softball actually means something now.
The CCS is allowing teams with the higher seed that did not receive a first round bye, a home game instead of playing at a mutual site on Wednesday.
 Does it matter?
 Depends.
Monterey was 8-2 at Jacks Park. Salinas, however, was just 5-3 at the Salinas Sports Complex. Notre Dame started 1-5 at home before winning its last two home games.
On the other hand, Carmel probably is glad to be on the road for the first round, having dropped its last three home games to three playoff bound teams by a combined score of 26-6.
