No one is surprised by Santa Catalina's 12-1 start this year.
But Pacific Grove, who visit the Cougars today, has opened some eyes by going 8-2 to start the season.
Why?
Sure, the program is dealing with its third coach in three years.
But the core of players that went to the postseason last year are back. The players are the ones that step between the white lines.
Pitcher Victoria Lucido is a four-year starter. So is Lilli Consigilio, who is on fire at the plate this year for the Breakers. And Michelle Bernier, an all-leaguer last year, is starting to heat up.
