Have the Spirits found their identity?
The timing is good.
Notre Dame gained a measure of redemption, avenging two earlier season losses to Salinas, beating them on Saturday at the Steinbeck Classic.
 Then for confidence, the Spirits gave San Benito all it could handle before falling 5-4 in the title game. Remember, the Balers pounded them 18-3 earlier this year.
 The Spirits, who have been to the playoffs 23 straight years, had a similar charge late last spring that catapulted them into the postseason. But this is a better team.
