Alisal graduate Diego Estrada has qualified for the Summer Olympics in the 10,000 meters for Mexico after meeting the Olympic 'A' Standard mark Sunday night in Palo Alto.
Estrada, a redshirt junior at Northern Arizona University, blistered the Stanford track in 27:32.90, well under the Olympic qualifying mark of 27:45.00.
The 22-year-old distance ace was an All-American earlier this year in three events for Northern Arizona at the NCAA Indoor championships.
Estrada, whose family still lives in Salinas, recently became an American citizen. He was also named Northern Arizona's Male Athlete of the Year on Sunday.
Estrada still holds the Monterey County record in the 3,200, finishing fourth at the CIF state meet as a senior.
