Notre Dame softball

If head coach Tom Cardinale had to do it over again, he might have adjusted his non-league schedule.
The second year Spirits coach -- who has just one senior on his roster -- put together a brutal preseason. The result saw Notre Dame go 1-6 during one stretch,, rattling its confidence at the plate.
 Since then the Spirits (5-7) have gone 3-1 after Thursday's 8-3 win over North County to climb to within two games of .500.
 I think in the long run Notre Dame will benefit from this. Five of its seven losses were to teams that are  a combined 44-6 record -- three of which are state ranked.
