Tri-County Athletic League
1. Palma: The Chieftains have five starters back, including four juniors that have been starting since their freshmen years. The pitching staff has yet to allow a run this year.
2. San Benito: Owners of six straight TCAL titles, the Balers take their lumps from WCAL teams in non-league play, then opened league play with a 9-6 win over Gilroy.
3. Salinas: The pitching issues from last year shouldn't be a concern this spring. Depth wise, Salinas has 12 players on the roster listed as pitchers.
4. Gilroy: Two impressive wins to open the year. Bubu Garcia, an all-league shortstop last year, tore up non-league pitching
5. North Salinas: Last year North Salinas was just 1-11 against the four playoff teams in the TCAL. Taking that next step has been a barrier since the TCAL was formed.
6. Alisal: Head coach Graham Santiago has got Alisal off to its best start in three decades. Alisal hasn't had a winning season since the late 1980's.
7. Alvarez: A walk-off double from Kameron Brown triggered Alvarez on a three-game winning streak before falling to Alisal on Tuesday.
