The Pirates finally open their season today -- two weeks after everyone else. The reason? Boarders are gone this week and the school facilities are closed.
After five straight Mission Trail Athletic League titles and two consecutive CCS finals appearances, the Pirates missed the postseason last year, losing their best player to a broken ankle.
 Seven players during Stevenson's run of MTAL titles have ended up in Division I softball programs, the most of any program in the county during that stretch.
The cupboard isn't completely bare with the return of twins Dani and Nikki Marangoni-Simonsen. If the Pirates can find a pitcher that can force teams to put the ball in play, they will be competitive.
